I have been taking some photos of a pair of Spotted Pardalotes that have nested in the mud on the bottom of an uprooted tree behind my house.
I first saw them on December 7.
It is now more than 21 days since and I never saw any chicks. Does anyone know what the chicks look like when they first emerge from the nest? Are they full grown? Could I have mistaken them for the adult birds?
I stopped taking photos of them some time ago so as not to risk disturbing them, but I have seen them there since.

The bottom shot shows a closeup of her mouth. I wonder if this is not, as I thought, the female but could it be a chick?
Finally this is a completely different bird photographed a few days earlier, at a different location some kms away. I am pretty sure this is an adult as I saw them carrying nesting material into their hole.

I think this bird's mouth looks a bit different?
