Thanks QLDBird and Greg :)
HAve seen a few falcons around in the sky but being small they are hard to identify got home today (ooops .. sorry .. forgot to say this guy's in Ningi QLD) to find him sitting in the dead tree over the road... just wish the light had of been better to allow a nicer image :)

This is an Australian Hobby rather than a Peregrine Falcon.
Notable ID features that differentiate it from a Peregrine is that in the first and second images you can see the white extending behind the black hood. In a Peregrine you wouldn't get this white part show of white at all.
Also the blue/grey colour of the wings, along with the white loral stripes shown in the 3rd image shows that this can't be a Peregrine and can only be an adult Australian Hobby.
Thanks Gelmir
Had to resort to google to find images of the Hobby (have never heard of them before - and no page for them in BiB)
of the couple of pics i found, I can see it is a Hobby.
Thank you very much

Well done gelmir, my book lists them as little falcon, very similar but a big difference in size. I assumed the bird was the same size as a brown falcon, shouldn't have made that assumption.
oops.. forgot the links to the full images

I think thats a Peregrine Falcon.
I would agree, peregrine falcon as seen in the movies, you don't see them very often.

Now worries, happy to help. ;^)
I made the same mistake the first time I saw a Aust Hobby until someone also pointed out the same ID features to me.
