Hi,
Can anybody tell me what this loves bird is? I saw it in Maylands WA. Was very, very friendly and not shy at all!!!! Looks a bit like a heron but I have never seen one like this before!

I took this photo in Fremantle a few years ago. Am I right in thinking this is a male Darter? I assumed it was a Cormorant!

Thanks Ed.I can see how they got their nickname from that picture. The bird was not afraid of me at all. Is that normal for darters?
No, I'd say not normal, birds used to people sometimes will allow a fairly close approach (a few metres)but away from populated areas I have found them quite timid. The fact the bird appears to have allowed itself to be stroked make me think it is a very young bird.
