Hi Guys,
Just wandering if anyone can help me identify this owl. I'm having troubles. I'm guessing it could be a Juvenile Barking Owl or Powerful Owl?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

The flat top head and green eyes are pointing to boobook for my money. Cool photograph either way.

By the way. The powerful us a very very big bird when compared to the much smaller boobooks, barking owls etc.

Cheers Trev,
I was thinking that the Powerful Owl is very big, wasn't sure because of it looking like a young owl.
Thanks for the info. First time I've seen anything like that in the daytime.

No way it's a Powerful Owl nor a Barking Owl. The juveniles even don't look like this. More barring is evident in PO and even in the Barking Owl. See the below links to some of my juvenile PO images I captured in the last three months

I am pretty certain that this is a Southern Boobook. Hard to gauge size, but I bet it was a small bird! :)
Nice 1 Windhover, yep i'll sit corrected, nice shots of a PO!,that's why i dont comment very much.i've had the pleasure of sighting POs on only 2 occasions.Sorry 4 the bumsteer Spokesy,at least u created some good interest, nice 1 !!cyas!

PS wish it was a barking owl! seems boobooks may b fairly common!!

They're still a very nice bird tez. I've never seen a barking and only one powerful. Apparenty more common around Brisbane than the cane fields of bundy for obvious reasons.
