I am struggling to ID this bird. I am thinking it is a grey fantail or a mangrove fantail.
Location was on the shores of east lake macquarie, near newcastle.

I'm thinking that it's a grey fantail; perhaps someone else could confirm this for us? My belief was that mangrove fantails aren't found in your area. Lovely photo.

You are right about the mangrove grey fantail. It seems it is mainly in the north-west of W.A.
