What kind of kingfisher ?
Could this be a whitebrow scrubwren?
And of course this must be a dollar bird.... my very first one ever seen. I think they are rather lovely

Black faced cuckoo shrike, sacred kingfisher (I think), not sure about the 3rd one and love your Dollarbird pic.
I get Dollarbirds in my yard and thought they had packed up and left for the year, but now they seem to be back on and off.
Nice photos!
Thanks Magpie. Those dollar birds are sooo cool. I've never? seen anything like that before and they make such a funny little noise. I've been wanting to see one ever since you posted about them some time ago, and there he was up high in a dead tree. they look like some kind of parrot when you first see them, can anyone tell me what family they are in?
oh by the way, my email updates seem to have started working again.

hi Birdie
Missing id; a Willie Wagtail, kingfisher is a Sacred, Dollarbirds are our only representative of the Roller family. Looks like you had a good weekend.

Hi Ed,, I just lost my reply to this somehow as my post came up with error. But the essence of it was that we had a great weekend up there getting close to nature . Too close in fact to the thousands of midges that I am still scratching from!! I will post some pics in the social forum so that I am not off topic here.
Cheers
Adrienne
ps I don't even remember seeing a willie wagtail there, but it was far away in the shade!

Hey I think the 3rd bird is a grey fantail. Like a willie wagtail but more of a brown-grey, and with a buff wash on the chest.
I am with ed, Willie Wagtail.
Grey Fantails have a white throat, white eyebrow & a white
ear spot.

Hi Birdie
I feel the Cuckoo Shrike is more likely a Little, not a Black-faced.
I very seldom see the Little, but it looks right for that species to me. I know juvenile BFs can have a narrow mask, not the full black throat, but it looks right for an adult Little Cuckoo Shrike to me.
By the way, I agree with Ed and Al about the Willie Wagtail.

@ Denis, in Vic we call the Little a White-bellied Cuckoo-shrike. I've only ever seen them with the black mask from the bill to the back of the eye but never much past the eyes.
As the photo was taken in Qld, could it be an imm. Yellow-eyed Cuckoo-shrike?
ed might be able to tell us.
I think it looks like an imm. Black faced.

Hi all
Never any doubt in my mind that it is a Black-faced (imm) the White-bellied never has that amount of black behide the eye, (excpt maybe the dark morph of the race robusta and I would expect to see more black on the head than on this bird)

Nice shots birdie.
Thanks Gelmir, I felt a bit embarrassed about not realising it was a willie wagtail though!! But I took so many in a short space of time, that I didn't actually see all of them till I had a chance to go through them this week! I was just so excited at realising that behind the beach there was a whole wooded world of birds!! ( and midges unfortunately, I'm still scratching)
