I've been trying to find out what kind of bird makes this piercing high pitched PING sound. They always seem to be going around the Zoo, though I've heard them along the bike path on the Yarra river as well.
They sound a lot like a sonar ping. It is quite a unique call.
it sounds like the birds are bell miners, which make loud, piercing 'TINK' calls
thats all i can think of as they live along the yarra
