I have been looking at these photos for a long time now, can't make up my mind, need your help. They are beginning to "all look the same", but different.
She was sitting on eggs, but I can't tell what sex they are either.

That's the one on the eggs, how can I tell female from male?

Those Ducks are haunting me, I still see them when I shut my eyes. LOL
And this one is? Male or female......Help!!!
I know, they are so common, but a mistery to me.

I'd say a chestnut teal in 1 & 2, Araminta, & a grey teal in 3. As always I'm happy to stand corrected.
Thanks Woko, I still stare at them, can't see the difference, can you help me please? M-L

Thanks for putting me on the spot, Araminta.
The grey teal is paler on the lower face & neck than the female chestnut teal . This is the main distinguishing feature. Morcombe's pics indicate that the back of the head of the grey teal is slightly flatter than that of the chestnut teal but I'm afraid I can't tell the difference.
Whatever, they're hard for me to identify confidently, too.
