well we also thought first its a lewin's but on the second pic one can see the yellow isn't a "halfmoon" but a full sort of round spot on its cheek???? so we thought could it be a "yellow spotted HE maybe ?????
Yeah, I did notice the full spot, but wasn't looking at my book so wasn't sure what a Yellow-spotted Honeyeater looked like (we don't get them down here in Brisbane).
Not sure if your friend was close enough to see the eye - Lewin's Honeyeaters have a dark blue eye.
Actually, I think the Yellow-spotted Honeyeater is found more north?
Hi Grevs, I think that's a Lewin's Honeyeater (but there are a few species that look quite similar, I think).

It does look like a yellow-spotted one, but I also think they are usually further north. Could be just a bit out of the usual range could it?
