Hi everyone i've been a little busy with life and misses and i are expecting a baby in 4 weeks.
I am still doing alot of bird and insect photography but my time has been limited but i manage to get some short arvo outings alot and have been making the best of it.
Here are some Rainbow bee eaters from late last year from a shoot at a secret location of mine that lasted 2hrs 45 minutes, i had to make the best of it and i was shocked with my keeper rate of these acrobats. Guessing my swallows and fairy martins inflight really got me prepared for small fast birds iinflight and now i shoot insects as well and i'm really enjoying fast or eratic flight photography.
Enjoy!
Hi Vas, it is so good to see you back! I have always admired your incredibly sharp and spectacular photos, I hope to see more very soon! Oh and congratulations on the baby!

Amazing photos vas - such beautiful bird too. Your flight shots are way better than my shots of stationary birds! I dont know how you get them inframe let alone get great detail as they are such swift erratic fliers.
Thanks for posting. All the best for the new baby - you will really know what being busy means when the baby arrives.
@teganb02
Thanks i'm feeling welcomed already :-)
Just 4 long weeks to go :-)
My 5 year old is getting ready to be big brother
@WD
Thank you :-)
The Rainbow bee-eater is my favourite bird and i was delited to get such shots of it, I got about 40 real good ones that arvo.
Practise, pre-focusing to minimise lens hunt and learning the birds flight and behaviour is the key along with fast reflexes and abilty to keep your focus points on target is very important.
I know what busy is from my 5 year old but this time i expect a double treat of excitement *cough cough* lol. 497 questions on avg a day from my 5 year plus crying from the newborn. It's not the questions that make you go insane it's when they don't like your answer and tell you the answer after they asked the question, go figure LOL

Welcome back Vas and great photos as always. I have been following your dragonfly inflight shots on Flickr as well and they are also amazing!
You really have the in flight shots nailed.
All the best with the new bub!
Some stunning shots here Vas! Congratulations on the baby and hope all goes well.

Nice ones, vas. You certainly sound like a proud repeat father to be.

Thanks for the comments and baby wishes, we don't know if it's a boy or girl yet (surprise baby) :-), i might be out of action for a few weeks sometime soon but i'll shoot insects and birds in my backyard,local parks and nature reserve if i'm desperate. Probably will be because i have ordered a new lens (M.Zuiko 300mm f4 pro) and i bet it's delivered during that time knowing my luck. It basically doubles my focal reach and is sharper than the very sharp 40-150 pro.
