can somebody please ID this Jellyfish? I have done my own research but can't find anything similar. As you can see it is clear with a purplish ring. It was slightly bigger than a mans open hand, so a good sized jelly. It didn't have any obvious classic 'string stings' but a clump of stingers (I think that they are stingers, or maybe organs??) all underneath in one piece, it had short hanging clumps in a circle under the cap, and one in the middle which was longer, they were clear dotted with the same colour as the purple ring. It was just floating pretty close to the shore at Safety Beach.
Teagan, can I assume Safety Beach is in Tasmania?
No, Mornington Peninsula, Melbourne

Thanks. Not that that helps with an i.d. I know nothing about jelly fish except they're found in water. But check this: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/jellyfish-invade-packed-beaches/story-e6frf7kx-1111113015778.
I note that the Herald Sun calls them pests. On what grounds, I wonder, since the jelly fish fraternity may well refer to the summer invasion of swimmers as pests, too.
Don't know much about them but it might be a Jelly Blubber.

Thanks Shorty, I think it is a Jelly Blubber, it looks right and research says it's the most common jelly found around eastern coasts.
Woko, that link was very interesting, thanks
