I saw these young ones this morning. They were as big as mum, but still running after her begging for food. They are often ignored because they are common birds, but I like them.

You are right about the young, even when they are the same size as the parents they look bigger . Once the down is replaced by feathers they look skinnier. You can see that in the photos, there is still down around the neck, but is falling out around the legs, and some of the wings is like that of an adult bird. They are not black yet, they are more brown.
And yes, there are juveniles everywhere. There are some Lewin's Honeyeaters in my garden, but the do hide their babies very well, I can hear them, but not see them.

interesting that you say this as I got a pic of an adult on the weekend that was my first Magpie-Lark pic for 8 months (apart from a nest pic last month)
