We have avery friendly King Parrot with no tail feathers at Nungurner in Gippsland Victoria. There is a similar or the same bird at Metung. This bird is an adult with a female companion and flys and feeds perfectly normally. Is this a genetic variation or something different?
Some might say that a King Parrot with not tail feathers is like an emperor with no clothes. More likely that it has suffered a severe molt or escaped from the potentially catastrophic clutches of a cat or Goanna.
