Is he a regular visitor to your giant bird bath?
There appears to be some very interesting bushland in the background of the first photo, Les.
WD. He visits quite often, but I don't always see him have a bath.
And Woko. We live on 6.5 acres and that is towards the bottom end of our back paddock.
Needs a bit of TLC at the moment.

I wonder if he is bathing or if he is catching insects floating on the top of the water surface?

They are beautiful birds. We've had Kookaburras diving quite deeply into our pool to get frogs - guess it makes sense being kingfishers.
