Kookabarra

This lovely girl seemed to have found something interesting for lunch. I'm not really sure what she was eating but it could have been a seed pod or wasps nestsmiley The last photo isn't very good, but I love the expression on her face laugh

Lovely bird. I wonder what the prize was?

At a pinch, it could almost be a lump of wholemeal bread, although it doesn't look quite right.  I sometimes throw out a scrap of seedy home made multigrain bread, which is usually grabbed by one of the local magpies or parrots. But sometimes a kookaburra will seize it.  Of course, they still have to bang it about and 'kill' it before they eat.  But I was surprised that they would touch it.  I guess it depends on how hungry you are.

You could be right Chris, although I don't feed the birds around my place and we live on 5 acres. Maybe it got it at a neighbours housesmiley
