Kookaburra

Quite a co-incidence - this morning i read RedBrowedFinch's post about their Kookaburra that allows them to come quite close, and this afternoon i was walking through some bush in a nearby reserve and I looked to my right and there was a Kookaburra perched head height about 3 metres away. I had nearly walked right past it.  It didn't seem too bothered with me and even turned it's back on me. It might have been a young one - not streetwise - as i saw a couple of others nearby. I got a few pics and then it flew away when i tried to move closer.

Love the photoheart

Kookaburras are best to sneak up on when they are concentrating on something they want to catch. They are so focussed that they won't pay much attention to you.

They are not scared of much either, who would be with a beak as big as theirswink

Nice one. Birds tend to have their own 'personal space' and will flee once that's invaded. I think you found your bird's space. :)

Thanks for the comments ... I think the Kookaburra was just having a quiet break from his duties
