Late Sun

The Arno Bay mangrove trail has quite a few tributaries, one of which is close to a Pied Cormorant nightime roosting tree.

As the sun sets the cormorants come in to roost and like to make a couple of approach runs before commiting to land.Fortunately, (for me), they use the draining tidal stream as a guide and with the sun behind it gives a chance to get some nice detail in the darker areas of the birds without blowing out the whites.

It it also just magic to watch.

Thanks all,

Sparrow, as they fly down the creek they tend to stay a little low which helps, also the mangrove walkway is raised about 1.5m above the water depending on the tide.

All fantastic ... love that shadow of the wing in #2, and the warm late sunlight.

You give me a good tip there to watch the birds and learn their behavior.
