Wow, they're still really good pics even if you had to crop them. You have captured all the patterns of the feathers beautifully, Shorty. Thanks for sharing!

P.S. I can't wait to see more of your photos.

Great pics especially #5 showing both the front view and the back of the bird. Beautifully marked birds. Stinking hot here on Saturday no chance of walking around in this humidity.

Nice photos. I have never had open views of a snipe. What is it doing in number 7?

Thanks Tim,

A Magpie lark was approching and i guess it is a defensive mode, but the Lark just kept on coming and the Snipe climbed up the bank and hid in the grass.

Great photos ... i especially like #5 as well, with the dual views front and rear. And #6 with the tail sticking up.

Great set of shots. Six and seven really show the colours.

Hope to get that close one day.

I love them all and very jealous. I have never even seen a Snipe. Agree, you either need to get out just as the sun comes up, because by 7am its already too hot. I am getting some good action shots in my bird bath though.

Thanks all,

When they arrive they are very timid but by this time of year they calm down but if you try to get close out of the hide they quickly dissapear.

Here is a shot i took on Friday of 10 in one shot.

Remarkable, Shorty. Wonderful to see your photos of this species in such numbers as I understand it's endangered due to wetland destruction both here & on its flight path to & from Japan.

Thanks Woko,

Interesting you mention this as i feel this year there are a lot more here than the past 2 years. What we can see is only a very small % of the area they could be. I would not be surprised if they are in the hundreds in the entire area of the wetlands
