Visit to Lincoln National Park a couple of weeks ago gave some great opportunities to observe and photo the resident Emus. They really were thick and lots of groups with chicks.
Was interesting to see lone adults tending to twenty plus chicks in different stages of development almost like a creche.
They have a habit of running along the road in front of the car and it doesn't seem to matter how much you slow down they just adapt to the pace and keep running
Rick, I believe it's the male who cares for the chicks.
Fantastic photos once again Rick.
Those little ones are really stunning with those streaks in their feathers.
Wonderful shot of them running down the road.
How very beautiful, and wonderful to hear there seems to be a healthy population in that particular Park. I agree with WD, all fantastic, but that action shot of them running down the road, love it!

Thanks all. Didn't know that Woko so thanks for the info.
One adult bird was looking after about twenty young ones, in three seperate
stages of development.
Can't see these photo's?
Sorry about that HendoNT. Had a snafu with the host site and lost a lot of links. Have updated now.
Cheers
Lovely stuff, Rick.
That running just fast enough sounds like a smart adaptation in a pretty harsh environment - run just fats enough to stay ahead of the "predator", not so fast to use up too much energy... :)
