Decided to go over to the Lismore Lake on Saturday afternoon, hadn't been over there for many years. The lake is only a remnant of it's former glory but found plenty of birdlife in the variety of trees in behind the lake and the Wilson River runs behind. Finished up with seven new species from my three hours there. Got an eighth "tick" on Sunday at Sharpes beach Ballina.
White-Breasted Woodswallow
Black-Faced Cuckoo-Shrike
Rufous Whistler
Silvereye
Brown Honeyeater
Yellow-Faced Honeyeater
Scarlet Honeyeater
White-Cheeked Honeyeater (Eighth Tick)
Little Pied Cormorant Fishing
Great work with these, I would particulary love to see the woodswallow.
The cormorant shot is unique, I have never seen a birds-eye view shot of one swimming underwater. Curious to how you got such a view- maybe a rock ledge or a boat? Also, are you sure it is not a little pied cormorant?

How come Lismore Lake has lost its glory, brian?
Thanks Ryu,
Very nice looking birds the woodswallow and look great in flight. Cormorant shot was taken from the walk/cycleway that runs from Shaws Bay out to North Wall Ballina. It is elevated above the Richmond River to the south and Shaws Bay (where the photo was taken) to the north. Yep, is a little pied.

Hi Woko,
The lake itself has all but gone, been like this for years now, not sure what happened. Used to be very popular for all sorts of water activities and birdwatching alike.
Some great shots Brian
Yes love that underwater shot, very unique
Dont take life too seriously, it never ends well
Great photos and especially the Whistler. But all great captures.
