Driving home from work today, was lucky enough to see a Hobby flying around and land in a tree just down the road from my house. Quickly grabbed the camera and ran down and found him still there, devouring a recent victim. I've been trying to tell what he was eating, and have included the 3rd (crappy) photo to show its tail. I'm going for a Greenfinch or Goldfinch based on the forked tail and little legs. In an area with honeyeaters / silvereyes / blackbirds and starlings commonly as well... Any thoughts appreciated. First time I've watched one of these guys eating dinner... Cheers, Scott.
Sorry Scott - no idea what the prey was.
Great photos - lucky you saw him and was able to get these!
