Logrunner

my birding drive today was to Boorganna Nature Reserve, via Comboyne via Wauchope, NSW

this bird is harder to photograph than the Whipbird

the pic is not real good so I will post a file pic from Nov '11 at Rocky Creek Dam, near Lismore

today's pic is a female, the orange throat

the other pics are male, the white throat

Thanks for showing this gorgeous bird to me. We don't have them down here. Are they common or rare?

Great photos Peter, They are hard to photograph as well as being in the dark of the forest creates a challenge.

Thanks for sharing Peter, it's good to see birds that we don't have.

agree totally with Shane's summary

they blend into the rainforest leaf litter so well, often they are under the litter and you can hear them but can't see them

my experience has been that the Whipbird will play hide-&-seek whereas the Logrunner runs away if it hears you, but I do not believe that their hearing is as good as the Whipbird

A dear little bird.  Sounds like you were lucky to get these pics if they are so shy.  Again, well done.
