This single male is the only one that decided to stay with us all year. Last year there were about 5 pairs, all of them had some offspring. In the end we had to be careful not to step on them. All disappeared, except for the male in the photos. Last week he started to call, call, call some more. Then finally a girl turned up. O boy was he happy. There was sex behind the tree, in front of the tree, in the tree…..you get it? Now she must have left? He’s all alone, still calling. I guess he is hoping she might be sitting somewhere on a nest? Is there hope for him????
(a little joke for those who remember what happened some time ago, for those I only have to say, we still call them "Moobirds", )
So, here is the lone Moobird:
So lovely to see those colours so well captured in your pics. I love these birds and am glad they still seem plentiful out there despite man's best efforts to destroy their habitat. Would he be so coloured up because its breeding season?

Gorgeous - the perfect angle between the bird and your camera to show those lovely wing colours.
