Driving back from Pt Augusta to Adelaide stopped at Pt Wakefield for a lunch stop and went for a wander.
Pt Wakefield is at the very top of Gulf St Vincent and has a tidal creek passing through the town with a short mangove boardwalk and various walking trails through the samphire.
First time here for me and surprised at the birdlife, all quite relaxed and obviously used to passing humans, except for Grebes of course :-)
Drying Cormorant
Resting Gull
Fishing Egret
Travelling Grebe
Great photos, the composition of the gull shot is just beautiful...

Nice set, love contrast of Cormorant and the stone background
Dont take life too seriously, it never ends well
Great set of shots. You have to be quick with the Egrets to catch the prey in its bill before they swallow them.

Nice set of shots over lunch ... little egret is very nice
Always nice to get some birding in while on lunch. Great set Rick. Agree with laza the gull shot is just superb.
Thanks all, nice little spot I will be visiting again.
Great set Rick, I must get up there and have a look. Been through hundreds of times but rarely stop and investigate.
Cheers,
Ron.
Wonderful photos. I really love the angle on the gull. You must have been laying on the ground.
Lovely photos! I like i that I learn so much about water birds on this site. We get an odd waterbird coming to our property in the last few years on the way to or from the Castlereagh whitewater centre but not the variety on display here.
Happy Birding!
