I have been working in Canberra for 6 months and therefore feel entitled to the Family & Community Day public holiday on Monday 30 September. A long weekend coming up so I consider going to Cairns, Townsville, Mackay or Rockhampton to go birding. A quick perusal of the Virgin website decides on Mackay (best available fares, actually cheap). Once that decision is made my target bird for the weekend becomes the Eungella Honeyeater. It is found only at Eungella in the Mackay hinterland, about 80 k from Mackay. The Friday is to be my last day in Canberra so I fly back to Brisbane Friday evening and then on to Mackay on Saturday morning. I got a number of lifers for the weekend.
Well done getting the lifers, so exciting!!
I love the little Red-backed fairy wren. What a cute hair-do
Great photos
thanks, it was a good weekend
