Gorgeous bird but no idea what it is. Some sort of Finch?
Yes a finch Reflex. A male one of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red-cheeked_cordon-bleu and http://beautyofbirds.com/redcheekedcordonbleufinches.html
From Africa, and introduced to Hawaii. Didn't you ask the staff what it was?
Lovely creature but let's hope none of these escape from their enclosure.

Thanks Owl, I should have done that. There was just sooooo many different birds there that I hadn't seen before.
I was in a bird photographers heaven.
I saw my first California Quail as well...comical birds.
Samford Valley Qld.
I have to share this photograph.........
I used to breed them (RC cordons)
magnificent birds.
if you like pretty finches check out Purple Grenadiers, Violet-eared Waxbills and Twinspots.
