Masked Lapwing - new visitor to our garden

Today's newsletter featuring the Masked Lapwing was very appropriate! I was delighted to see this Masked Lapwing in our garden about a week ago. I've lived in the Lower Blue Mountains, NSW for 26 years, and this is the first time we've seen one here. This photo was taken in the "native" area at the rear of our block, but the lapwing was quite happy to wander around the other areas of the garden near the house and we've had frequent visits every day for over a week.

How exciting for you, and a lovely photo too. Just watch out for their nest (if you have a pair) they simply lay their eggs on the bare ground. They will give you a very loud warning though, should you come too close to the nest. Good luck, hope they stay.
