I think, it's easy for animals to get along, if they are not after the same thing
Swans are vegetarians (as far as I know) and Pelicans eat fish and the like (as far as I know).
Neither of them is after the other's girls either
Some of people's problems derive from "wanting some of what the other has" , sad but true

Lovely photo ... the pelicans don't get along with all birds though!
I saw one parent sea gull diving bombing a pelican it thought was getting to close to its offspring.

Pelicans also eat birds. Especially tender young ones.
Maybe that can be a photo event. Birds that hang out together that are not the same species. We have 2 different types of commorants that always hang out together. A Little Pied & a Little black.
