Missed opportunity

Headed off with the wife yesterday to do some exploring and maybe some landscapes , we were on Halls Gap rd only 5k from home when I slowed down for what I thought was a Crow on the road eating something as we got closer I realised it was a Little Eagle pecking at a dead rabbit .

I would have normaly have stopped short and jumped out with the !50-500 mm but I looked at the camera sitting on the back seat with a 12-24 on it and thought S#@%& we drove a bit closer and he picked up his meal and and started off ,then to rub salt into the wound circled around and flew past my window 3m off the ground about 6m away and looked right at me as he went past.

From now on I don't care what the wife says about doing something "differant for a change " the big lens stays on untill we get to wherever we're headed and thats it .

My husband always said to me before getting into the car:  Don't forget your Baby!

I'll always remember that. These days my daughter says: Mum, don't forget your Baby!

my camera bag is of a size that the lens & extender are on the camera body in the bag - always prepared (and to think that I was a Cub for less than 1 year)

Ha shorty I said to her at the time "thats what I get for letting you sit in the cameras spot " thats why I had to take her shopping today  for new laptop to try and buy my back into the good books, it never works but worth a try ,its a bit unsettling when she stands holding a pillow in both hand and says why don't you take a nap !

I find it quite difficult to take any decent photos with a baby. They are always wriggling about, dribbling and making silly noises. Plus I never know which end to look through.

Just found this and ...same same ..... last week decided to get arty with some reflections in a tidal creek and looked up to see a pair of Brahminies just cruising above me ..... I  could just gape at my 10-22 and swear to myself!!!!

I have an even better scheme for the front seat though..... I leave my husband at home cheeky  Love your work there Shorty !

My camera is always with me, with the right lens on. Period. Wife or no wife. She may moan, but she knows I love photographing birds.

Plus the 500/4L makes an awesome lens for photographing the dogs too, as long as they're not in your face. cheeky
