Musk Duck

It would seem that the last recorded sighting of Musk Duck breeding in Canberra was back in 1987, so after a report of young being sighted i had to go and have a look.

The mother was very busy diving for yabbies and shrimp to feed her young.

How marvelous Shorty!  I wonder why they are back after such a long time away?  Better environmental conditions, increased food source etc perhaps.  Amazing shots, fingers crossed they stick around and thrive.  Love the entire sequence, and I know mum is feeding baby in the second to last shot, but still such a sweet almost intimate moment.
