Can anyone throw some light on what this young bird is ? I have seen it around Carine the past few weeks and am uncertain if it is a maggie or juvinille kookaburra.

That is a grey butcherbird.
Many thanks for the id on the grey butcher bird. I have 2 in the area, they seem to have moved in recently. I am across Marmion ave, opposite Star Swamp Reserve (Perth WA), the birds are quite vocal communicating to each other frequently from TV aerials or other high spots. I have never seen these in the area before.
