Ventured from my coastal life on the West Coast and headed into state forests about 200 km easts looking for some new sightings. Couldnt have been more happier with five new ticks of Birds (Rufous Treecreeper, White-naped and Yellow plumed Honeyeaters, Blue Brested Fairy Wren, White-browed Babbler) and my first ever sighting of a Numbat as well.
One of the new ticks I was able to get a photo, the Rufous Treecreeper and as ex-military man I have to admire his camo skills

Wow excellent photos. Love that last Pardalote shot. I see what you mean about the camo. Taht rufous really blends in with the bark. All bar the Pardalote and the Honeyeaters would be new for me. Did you manage any photos of the Numbat? Would love to see one of them.
Thanks Dev
Alas I saw the Numbat as I was leaving the park sitting by the road. Lucky not to crash the car as I took one hand of steering wheel pointing and was shouting to myself "Look a #%^&&& numbat"
As I was doing a 15 km day hike I had real no expectation to see one even though the park is one of their last bastions here in the West.
Even at 4.30 pm I was quite surprised to see it out and about . I certainly be heading back there in a couple of weeks for late afternoon evening hike and I wont be scanning the trees for most of the time :)
Dont take life too seriously, it never ends well
