I thought people might enjoy seeing a black swan on the nest. Her/his mate was a couple of kilometres away, feeding. I understand these birds share the incubating duties and when some of the eggs hatch, one will take care of the cynets, while the other continues to incubate the last of the eggs. These have been nesting for about three weeks, in a paddock, just off the roadside, between South West Rocks and Kempsey.
Lovely! That's going to be pretty exciting to keep track of!

My husband drove past the nest this week and was able to report a gathering of cygnets standing on the nest. He couldn't count how many but there seemed to be a lot. I hope to get a photo when driving past again next week.
