Hello all. I've tried looking this one up, no luck in anything I have or images i've viewed. It has a ruffled pile of feathers in one spot on it's back from hitting something possibly. Not a bird "feature".
Has very long claws if you look closely.
Hope to mark it down as the 55th bird type on the property :-)

Yes.. I believe you're right. More likely the Pipit as my reading on the Skylark suggests a very pronounced song that would be very distinctive and i've not heard anything like that.
