Hi I live on the Esplanade in Scarness Hervey Bay,when the storm hit us at New Year we lost a lot of she oaks along the water front and with them went a pair of sea eagles that perched and fed here on a regular basis,they have moved a bit further down the beach and another similar sized bird has moved into our area it's very shy and I am not a good photographer and I am hoping someone can identify the bird from the two lousy shots I have put here.the first 2 pics are the best I can get of the new bird the 3rd shot is of the bird that lived here before the storm I would love to know exactly what it is.
please notice that the new birds beak is straight not curved like the eagle they are about the same size.
the distinctive feature that I see is the barring on the long tail - Channel-billed Cuckoo (comparison pic attached)
