New Holland invasion

I just witnessed the most amazing event , at least 30 New Holland Honeyeaters descended from out of nowhere and invaded my garden. They were everywhere, calling each other with very high pitched voices. I had never heard this before.

It’s now an hour later and all is quiet. They came in and left.

Did get a few photos, they were very fast moving , never sitting in one place for long and seemed rather nervous.

A common occurence here, Araminta. Or it was until the wave of heat waves struck. I understand its classic New Holland Honeyeater social behaviour & am surprised you haven't seen it before.

I have seen small groups ... 7-8 in a few trees - but 30 at once is a real invasion!

Great photos .... i love their staring eyes and those little white tufts coming out from the sides of the neck.

I forgot to mention that it's usually in the late afternoon or at dusk that I see this behaviour although it does occur at other times of the day.

bird sprinkler for Araminta .

Basically a metal stake , elbow welded to it , fittings to take popup sprinkler and hose. you could probably use strong cable ties and epoxy glue if you didn't have access to a welder.

I was just going to pm ML on this one instead of bothering everyone else , but there seems no way of uploading images from PC  in a personal message indecision

We get the same thing here upto 20 at a time back and forth around the yard calling all the while ,the Rainbow Lorikeets have  just arived that sorts them out but then we have to listen to thier noise they start around 5:30am ,we have Maggies Brother staying here and there just outside his window he tried yelling at them out the window worked the first time for about 30 seconds

We bought a similar sprinkler for the fish pond from Mitre 10
