John Young's Night Parrot discovery has been big news in the bird world in the past week. The big unveiling is tonight at the Queensland Museum - is anyone going?
There is an ABC interview here

A little out of my range, Holly, but I heard John interviewed on National Radio's Bush Telegraph this morning. Boy/girl, does he sound excited about his find!!!!! And who wouldn't be after all the kilometres travelled & hours spent looking for the night parrot? Anyway, I got to thinking: what evolutionary forces would have been at play to make this bird strictly nocturnal & terrestrial with such a soft sound. And with such limited numbers. Night parrot numbers make orange bellied parrot numbers look like a plague from what I've learned!
Holly, if you hear of any TV presentation of John's photos or movie could you let us all know? Thanks!
Peter
Absolutely, will let you know if I hear anything.
I am also really interested to understand the ecology of this species - just fascinating stuff!
No footage from inside the meeting but an ABC article featuring the wonderful Sean Dooley.
