Had this bloke dash in and have a swim in our pool this afternoon, announcing to all the world that he was in town and the girls had better look out!
Then a Brown honey eater chased him away!.............................:-(

Can you believe i don't have an ID book? :-(

Sorry mate I was wrong if you live in the N.T. Then it's a female Leaden Flycatcher

Cool! Yeah, noisy little bird!. I looked them up and yes she is female, but she was sure singing like a boy!
Hang on there one more guess it could be a Broad- Billed Flycatcher .? This is way to much fun. Another possible difference between the two birds is the flatter appearance of the head of the Broad-billed .Like its relatives, it can raise the crown feathers in a semi- erectile crest when excited. Hope that helps. Any way off to soccer with the family.

I would still stick with female Leaden. Broad-billed have darder buff on the throat and should look a bit shinier.
Cheers, Owen.
Here's one more of this "gal"
I would go with the Laden flycatcher too, mainly because the wing color is more brown and the broadbill color from head to wing is the same but this flycatcher is grey on the head and brown on the wing.
The chest color can be confusing depending on the age of the bird, below are a couple of photos of a broadbilled flycatcher from the mangroves in Broome. You can see the difference in chest color.
Thanks for the replys guys, Leaden it is, the broad bills are very similar though aren't they?
