Hey there All,
I wasn't sure whether this question would go in the social section of the forum or not - but here goes. I am in the process of writing a novel. The hero of my novel is, of course, the Red Browed Finch. I have all my characters in place except one important character. I need some suggestions on which bird would play the Wise bird.
For obvious reasons, I would need it to be an Australian Bird, and am kind of shying away from Owls, as they are used quite frequently when referring to "wise birds" and I wanted to be a little different.
I look forward to any suggestions you may have?

Currawong? Ravens aren't really dignified enough... Or perhaps a Bush Turkey?
But, maybe if the main character is a Red Browed Finch, you'd be better off with something smaller... Dunno what though, but no a wren of any sort. Maybe a robin of some sort?
Wise Willie Wagtail has a certain cache.

Tawny Frogmouth or mayby a 100year old Cockatoo
I do like the "old Cockatoo", but I also like " the "old Emu", he has something wise and myterious about him. At least for me he has.
Did you know, there is "the-emu-in-the-sky" constellation?
