Ok i really have tried to find this one, the closest i can find is a female Golden Whistler but i am probably wrong. This will make #115 for me but this is the only angle i have that is clear, i do have a bit of a blurry one of it taking of from the tree showing the tail if it will help.

I have been looking at your pic and my file pics for 5 minutes, a file pic from Bouddi NP, NSW on 8/12/12 below for comparison. Did it behave like a young bird? The beak looks too fine and the neck is not light enough.

I picked this female Golden Whistler, because I find it looks a lot like yours, only not as sharpcrying

Its not a Sparrow or a finch. Best guess so far is your female golden whistler, if its not then a female robin. But there's not enough of a wing view here to tell...

Still convinced it's a female Golden Whistler. Will look for some more photos for you Shorty.

In these photos you can see the feathers and the tail a bit better. (not a very good photo, sorry)

I hope this helps you Shorty?

Sorry Shirley, I haven't seen any very young ones yet, but the immature mostly look like the females. They do have redish eyes. I think it also depends on the lighting, if the sun hits the eye, they can look more red.

Yep those last two are convincing me more that i have been right with my call ( Thanks M-L )

And there is nothing wrong with those pics, i think most people would be happy to have them ( including mesmiley)

I was thinking the same thing that maybe the morning sun on the bird could be giving the red eye effect?

Juvenile Golden Whistler for me.

Don't forget, rawshorty, you and M-L live quite far away from each other(about 600km),so that could lead to the plumage, eye colour etc of the same bird differing. Another possibility is a another whistler,I'm not sure which ones you have in your area but have a look around anyway, because most juvenile birds of the same genus look alike.
