An item on last night's ABC 7.30 Report had me thinking the Federal Environment minister had it spot on by blocking a planning decision to build a marina at Westernport Bay due to the need to protect habitats for the orange bellied parrots. While there hadn't been recent reported sightings I was wondering about the wisdom in reducing habitats suited to the bird should their population once again increase.
We also need to keep in mind that it's not only orange bellied parrots that use that habitat, xjohnno. I wonder what the marina builders will do to relieve their boredom once we have coast to coast marinas in this great nation of ours.
Woko, I'm in total agreement with you. They kind of fail to realise that a diverse range of creatures depend on those habitats.
The fast buck brigade are always out to mess up another habitat area in the interests of "progress" of their bank accounts.
