Oriental Cuckoo

On my way back to the house after conqueroring the Eastern Koel I spied this cuckoo in a tree in the far back paddock. Took a while to figure it out but am happy that it seems to be a juvenile Oriental Cuckoo.

Castlereagh, NSW

so two cuckoo species in a morning and a total of 38 species for the year. :) photographed in our yard. Yep I am happy.

Great find .... great when they are out in open and not obscured in the foliage.

Nice find indeed. Some of these Cuckoos can look very similar.

I note that the Oriental Cuckoo breeds in the northern hemisphere & migrates to northern parts of Australia for the summer before returning in autumn. Interesting.

Awesome find! You should report this sighting to eremaea because the Oriental Cuckoo is very rare in Sydney.
