I found this Olive-Backed Oriole near Oriole Crescent at Mulgoa Nature Reserve!

Lovely shots Tim. What a beautiful bird.

Sort of reminds you of a female Rufous Whistler with chest markings.

Love to see one one day.

Great find Tim. They really are a good looking bird and quite common around here but not the easiest bird to photograph as the tend to stay in the upper parts of trees.

Nice photos.

This is a young one as the orange beak or Olive back arn't prominant yet.

Really Elise, I have them at work and I have never heard them mimic other birds. I will have to pay more attention.

Reflex you are so right about them staying high in the trees, does my neck in trying to find them.

Cheers

They are really clever mimics. I have heard them around our block, mimicking the Pacific Baza and then the warning calls of the Noisy Miners. I stood right under the tree wand watched it do the diferent calls, I laughed so muchlaugh I suppose they would mimic different birds depending on the different areas they are in, and the local birds.
