Ospreys

Since it was such a beautiful day today, I decided to go for a drive to visit a few places that were on my list. I went to visit Osprey House at Murrumba downs. I met up with a volunteer who was there taking some photos, and managed to snap a few tasty photos along the way. :)

Fair Warning: Couple of mating shots in the mix.

Enjoy!

Wow, fantasic, what an experience. I have not seen an Ospray yet.

And after all, it is mating season.

(I saw a lot of mating today, did you see the shots I took of the Ibis mating? I didn't know where to point the camera, they were mating all at the same timedevil)

Yes, I just saw them now.

I hadn't seen them before either, but this is a pair that nest at an environmental centre. There was a fair bit of standing around waiting, but it was definitely worthwhile. Quickly falling in love with birds of prey. :)

There was also a Butcher bird sitting on the webcam housing above them... Apparently he wanted to watch too.

if you get tide times right you should get Striated Heron, Collared Kingfisher and other shorebirds from the Osprey House boardwalk; always worth a look at the ponds on the RH side at the next bend and go further along to the river for pelicans flying up river in the early morning

You're so lucky windshear, what a memory to treasure.  Fabulous series of shots, something I could only dream of witnessing let alone capturing yes

Got plenty of the pelicans, but I was there at the wrong time to see anything in the boardwalk. sad I couldn't quite figure out how to get into some of the places around there, and didn't want to step on any toes. Still had a great day though.

I also went to black duck reserve (or whatever it's called) back down Dohles Rocks Rd. When I was coming back for a second burst at Osprey House, I spotted half a dozen royal spoonbills, several different types of Ibis, and an Egret hanging out in the reeds as well.

Will be definitely going back soon, but it's a fair hike from my place. crying

I've been lucky to see Osprey nests without going out of my way.  They are amazing to watch.  Even caught one eating a fish once.  Nice pics.
