I saw three Pacific Bazas (Aviceda subcristata) this morning in Lane Cove NP. All three were in my back garden just now. Likely the same group because we can see the NP from our place. One landed in a large Angophora eucalypt just off our verandah. They were being harassed by butcher birds & miners. They stayed around but took to wing often. In the air they appeared to be fighting or playing as they careened freely over the tree tops & would pull up to touch talons with each other. Their call has been heard for weeks but I couldn't ID it til today when they frolicked so close. Too exciting!! (No photos available as my battery was flat...)
