Hi Guys,
There probably isn't a wildlife photographer in Australian who hasn't shot a PBD.
And why not, they are a charming little bird, and because they're everywhere they are a great learning experience for a novice or someone like me.
But I actually shot this guy as possible evidence for a campaign I'm beginning to cobble together to help the lake. You more experienced Twitchers may correct me, but I think he's got a prob with his right wing. He may just be wet, I dunno, but I'm sure I've seen him dragging his wing before.
If I'm right he's soldiering on well, but he can't fly with that wing. I'd like to help him/her.
If it is an injury it may very likey be catstrike, I got shots of two domestics moggies with collars and bells stalking in the reeds.
I'd appreciate any advice.
Cheers,
Denis Dmenace.
Looks like an injury to me, Denis.
Do you have a wildlife rescue organization in your neighbourhood?
Bells on moggies don't do the trick, I'm afraid, so publicity about the horrendous presence of uncontrolled moggies near your lake would be good. Better still, a campaign to get Council to introduce strict cat controls as part of developing a wider cat-free pro-wildlife culture.
Yes, agree the wing angle looks odd.
