Pacific Black Duck up a tree?!

I have seen wood ducks up a tree but was amazed too see this guy up the top of one as well.

It looks a bit strange doesn't it! They actually use hollows to breed in.

Wow Holly .. that is amazing.. I have never heard of it. There must be a lot of pressure on good hollows around with all the birds that like to breed in them.

Holly, did you mention someone who makes something called Hollow Homes? I ask because a heap of nesthollow boxes were place through the area where i walk and they have a particular HH symbol and I wondered if it was the same person?

I'm doing a talk on Sunday called Hollow Homes :)
No doubt there is a company making nest boxes that uses that name too - its a great name I think.
Something like 20% of our birds and 30% of our marsupials use hollows. That adds up to a lot of species needing them - and the of course they need to be certain sizes and shapes for different species.
