Pale headed Rosella

This is a lone pale headed Rosella I finally got a photo of .Hes been living in my area for a couple of years now .There used to be two but I only ever see this one by itself, suggesting the other is no longer with us. It was heading for my birdbath but at the same time being stalked by my neighbour cat . Ive since moved the birdbath to a more open area.Id be interested to know how to rid my yard of cats .They are my nemesis.

Nice photo ... lovely colours.

Hope someone can help with ideas to deter the cats.

what council area are you in?

ask your council if they lend cat traps

I would of course first advise your neighbour that you have seen some feral cats and will be putting out traps

You can try a water gun, but it will only deter it for a while.  If you know who ones it take a photo of it in your yard and report it to the council, say its a wondering cat, and you have seen it killing native wildlife, or stalking native wildlife.

You could trap it yourself and take it to council.  That is OK as it should not be roaming.  Tin of fishy cat food should see it come in reasonably quickly. You may be able to hire a trap, or thay are around $130 if you wish to purchase.   If it's a feral...well that's a very tricky hit and miss game which the feral often wins.

You can try and talk to the owner, but that shows your hand, and if they do nothing about keeping it inside than you are furter behind than you are now.  If it's roaming than they don't love it as much as they perhaps think.  And they are most likely breaking the law and council bilaws on cats will be on your side.  Just think of the wildlife, not weather you are being cruel, because you are not. Perhaps that PHR lost it's life mate to a roaming cat who just felt like killing because it was a sunny day.

Nice pic, my favourite bird me thinks.  Good luck.
