Photos of Powerful Owl clutching brush turkey carcass in Warrawee garden

Hi there

I though I would post a few pictures of our exciting spotting last Sunday. We had a Powerful Owl spend the day roosting in our Warrawee garden clutching a Brush Turkey carcass. We believe the owl has lived in our area for a few years as we've seen a huge decline in the number of possums nesting in our garden.

Oh you posted them!

I was going to suggest in my email to you that you share them here!

Brilliant pic.  I didn't realize they could bring down a scrub turkey, but maybe a young one.

Hello saschal.

Warrawee garden wouldn't be on the Kiewa Valley Highway by any chance?

mtck,

There may be another Warrawee, but I'd guess that this would probably be on the north shore of Sydney, near Wahroonga.

I only know of it cause my folks had a house there briefly, and I spent a summer down there doing pub work.

On the topic, more directly - how exciting to have a Powerful Owl in your own backyard and in the heart of (leafy) suburbia no less!
