At Mulligans Flat we have had our first ever breeding record for Pink Eared Ducks in the A.C.T., YAY.
On Saturday i thought i would try to get some closer shots of them. I spotted them on the other side of the dam ( as usual ) so i took the long walk around and started sneeking around. I got to where i thought they might be and got down on my belly and crept around the tussocks. Through the tussocks i spot a PED and get excited.
Now i make sure settings are good and put the 7D2 into silent shutter mode. Slithering around the tussocks i realize that it is just an adult and the ducklings nowhere in sight. I took about 40 shots before he spotted me and got my best shots of this very skittish duck that i have ever got. No ducklings but can't complain.

Wow, great shots! I have never been close to them before, they have strange looking beaks.
Well done! That's the way to get the quality shots.
What do you use for post production?
Samford Valley Qld.
Wow, I've never seen a Pink Eared Duck in so much detail, way to go!
Tegan - Melbourne Vic.
Exceptional photos - and a beautifully planned and executed operation to get them. Thats a big bow wave he creates - a lot of water to push his way through.
Thanks everyone.
Reflex, i just do basic editing in Lightroom. I do have Photoshop but don't really use it.

Aiming for DSLR-quality shots with a bridge camera
Stunning pictures and really demonstrates how the duck got its name. Not sure I'm up to getting down and sliding through tussocks anymore so appreciate your dedication.
Sue.
Well done Shorty to get so close to them. They are definately a very skittish duck. I too admire your dedication and sliding around on your belly. Just goes to show, sometimes when you do the hard work you get rewarded with quality shots. (I emphasize sometimes) insert smily face.
great pics
Peter
